Went up to ace-egypt on Thursday, as always an enjoyable time. With a new volunteer vet and a new volunteer just started it was great to meet up and talk Animals!

In the few days since I last visited, many changes of Animals going home and new ones arriving. Donkeys are in the majority in the ace stables this week.

Some have broken bones, other have infections and one has had some surgery near his spine.
After giving the regular Horses their oils, I went on to meet the new Donkeys. Perhaps because they are too short to get their heads right over the half stable doors they often kick the door or bray for attention, some like this one................. prefer to tiptoe up into appealing poses...........maybe that's just being a Donkey!
Looking gorgeous!

As Donkeys here are a little hand shy, I often stand alongside the door with my arm hanging right over it, encouraging them to come meet me. I had forgotten to wipe the last Horses nutrient oil from my hand, the Donkey came to sniff my hand straight away.
He stepped back for a few moments, then returned to inhale the aroma again.
He stepped back, i wiped all the oil away and put my arm back, he came back but nudged my hand apparantly no likeable aroma.
I offered him a smell at the bottle, he licked his lips and chewed and tried to take the bottle. putting a few drops of the oil on my hand, i offered some oil which he readily "sucked" applying it to his upper and lower inner lips, he scraped some off my palm with his teeth.
*****
Many Horses and Donkeys here cannot lick, some have tongues broken by Bits others have no experience of licking and seem unable to use the tongue.

Having ingested oil, he stepped back, yawned and then immediately rolled about his stable, twisting his neck, stretching his back, clearly feeling it was time for some Donkey Yoga. He looked blissed out.
He soon got back up, came for more oil and repeated the whole rolling Yoga workout.
He returned a third time for more oil, this time he took more and flared his mouth before he completed a routine of head and neck stretching and twisting.
Perhaps because the area of wound is near the spine, he needed to realign his body, the oil would have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, anti-viral properties & like all aromas we enjoy, it was enabling relaxing and re-balancing naturally.

An excellent post-op choice!
